I know of successful earthquake predictions by the Chinese scientists, especially of Haicheng earthquake in 1975. I am sure there must have been some predictions for this Sichuan earthquake of May 12, as corroborated by the report of Oiwan Lam. But when I tried to get details of it both the links came out in chinese , which I could not follow. Is it posisble to have the details in English ? I am interested in the study of earthquake precursors. It will be of great help to me. I am also interested in getting such details from various concerned people.

Apparently, human beings cannot always predict earthquakes. Why? Because we fellow human beings are not clever than God.
Im not relgious at all, but im quite sure that “god” had anythign to do with an earthquake, and I wouldnt put to much faith of yours into that book as it blinds people from the truth. I have read about the chinese goverment not takings questoins about the quake predictions and found it intresting.

On May 7th, five days before the deadly quake struck, a self-proclaimed seismologist from Wuhan city posted a notice on the Internet predicting that an earthquake would strike on May 12th.
“According to information I have in hand, and exchanges that I have had with some foreign colleagues, I predict China will have an earthquake on May 12, 2008. The approximate location will be in the middle of Sichuan and Hubei, though all China may feel the tremors,” read the notice.
The man went on to note that his predictions could not be announced publicly because it could cause “panic.”
The Epoch Times is still trying to confirm the name and claims of this seismologist.
Three days later, after the earthquake struck, the notice was deleted. A screenshot of the notice can be seen on the Epoch Times Web site.

A few days before the quake, many strange phenomena happened too. On May 10, there was a report on West China City Paper that tens of thousands of toads were migrating in Mianzhu of Sichuan. The toads walked on the road and many were crushed to death by vehicles and pedestrians. Some villagers thought it was a bad omen. But the local authorities explained that it was a normal phenomenon. They said it was the peak breeding period for toads. Some experts even claimed that the migration of the toad was proof that the ecological system of Mianzhu was getting better.
In Taizhou of Jiangsu, tens of thousands of toads were also found crossing the roads.
In Enshi City of Hubei, 80,000 tons of water disappeared from a pond named Guanyin on April 26. Whirlpools began to develop at about 7am, and within 5 hours, the entire pond dried up. That was seen as a sign of a quake coming too.

Just a curious note that was passed to me by some friend:
China diasater started with the worst snowstorm on Jan 25, then the unstable event of Tibet on Feb 15 and now the Sichuan earth quake on May 12…….if you add all the numbers up Jan=1 + 2 +5 =08……Feb=2 +1+5=08…..May=5+1+2=08……….thus 08,08,08 comes up to the opening date of the big event of China Olympic.
Also there was an astronomer (presume) by the name of Li Da had written a prediction consisted of 4 phrases which told of something which i don’t really understand but the main thing that caught my attention are the 1st & last chinese characters of those phrases. It read “Bei, Jing, Owl, Yuin” & “Si, Chuan, Tee, Zhen” translated Beijing Olympics, SiChuan Earthquake…………….and this was written centuries ago……if someone have any ideas of this astronomer website please post here, thanks. Just sharing what i received, might not be true but no harm trying to find out………………cheers

I agree with Joe, it’s sick trying to forcast something with numbers while thousands have died tragically.
We all made mistakes and that is why we are only human. No matter what we find out it cannot bring back those lost lives. I think the most important thing now is that we have to prevent the same mistake from happening again. We cannot undermind the work of environmental research that can provide vital information for prediction and escape from disastor. There must be something we can do to deliver a clear message to change our planet to be a better world.
By the way, does anyone know what happen to the ancient Chinese device of ‘9 dragons’ ? (I cannot remember if it is 8 dragons or 9 dragons) The device is supposed to predict and give direction to the earth quake location and it was working perfectly in the ancient days.

I am wondering the earthquake prediction. Each time when we come cross the Epoch Times, we shoud take extra cautions and think about it a second time. Based on the so-called earthquake -associated phenomena happend in other locations in China, there haven’t seen any hits there. e.g, there are hundred of miles away between Sichuan and Jiangsu or Guangdo.

Pandas’ enclosure (panda house) + wildlife house were destroyed about 38000 square meters, forests destroyed 328,667 hectares, Sichuan forests covering rate adjusted down by 0.5%, and disatered area by 1.87%. Panda habitat destroyed 120,000 hectares. And it needs about 20-30 years for the nature reserve (forests and plants) to be recovered to the same level before earthquake took.

Hello to all. I see that many of you, including you, mr. captain democracy, have hate for each other. Only because of the words the other says. Does the Bible not explain to love your fellow man in many different ways? Does God not command us to be peaceful and uplifting to one another? Did Jesus not live and sacrifice His life to save each and every person who has the power within themselves to do as God says?
So, if you, captain democracy, are truly of God and His word, you would not judge your fellow man, nor tell him he is wrong. You would simply let him speak his mind and let that man decide which direction to go. This is also for all you others speaking harmfully about others.
It is amazing how a single question can raise such hate against other people as it has here. Why can’t people help each other rather than hurt each other?
The world has gone through many cycles since God created it. Scientific evolution is true, if you simply compare God’s word to science’s word. God said “Let there be Light!” = the big bang. God said “Let there be an expanse between the waters of the sea and the sky” = Water settling due to the cooling of the earth after it was formed. God created man from the dust of the earth = Evolution from the first-ever organism into the millions of species of animals on the earth, including man, and man is the greatest because we are the most highly evolved of all living things. These are only a few examples, but if you read between the lines, it is all there. But for some reason, people don’t take the time to find out the truth.
We as people find the imperfections in others because we choose to, not because it is human nature. Human nature is what each individual chooses, not the whole of mankind. God is real. Satan is real. They both dwell in each and every person’s body. What makes God supreme is that He also exists in a realm that we as humans cannot fathom. We are literally blind to it, but it is all around us.
Mankind as we know it has existed for 6,000 years on this earth. This earth is millions upon millions of years old, yet we as a species have destroyed it in only 6,000 years!!! How is this possible? It is possible because it is easier to do evil than to do good. It is easier to cut corners than to do the job right. It is easier to do things your way rather than God’s way. That’s how the earth has been bruised by mankind in such a short time.
Now, it is with a lump in my throat that I explain the following things to you. I am not an angel, righteous person, or anything near being perfect in God’s eyes. I have my own faults and my own problems. There has only been ONE person in the history of mankind that lived a perfect life. His name was Jesus. I am nowhere near the person Jesus was. I do, however, study God’s word on a regular basis, and I have a faith in Him that cannot be moved from it’s foundation. It is by this sheer faith that I have learned what is happening on this earth. I don’t have dreams, visions, or anything of the kind. I simply have learned to open my eyes and see what is happening around me. I have learned to have faith and be patient when I am curious of something, because without fail, I always find the answer.
With that said, here it is. It is not meant to scare anyone, it is simply meant to prepare you for what is to come in the following 3 1/2 years. Take these words into serious consideration, as I am confident you will be able to use them!
God has a timetable for things to happen. It is up to the freewill of humankind to decide how rapidly God’s timetable will be fulfilled. Mankind has roamed earth for 6,000 years. At the end of that 6,000 years, the great Tribulation will take place, leading to 3 1/2 years of trials and famines. After the 3 1/2 years, there will be 1,000 years of peace where Satan is locked in the abyss to await one FINAL judgement. The total of all of this time is 7,000 years. Remember when God said that to Him, a day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is as a day? It is so SIMPLE, yet people refuse to open their eyes! The tribulation that is upon us is remarkably only for the nations of this world, NOT the individual people! In the modern Bible as we read today, there is nothing said about the “trinity”, Sunday being the Sabbath, Mary being a person to worship, or any of the other insane things that the catholic church claims is true and righteous. The Sabbath is still from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. Always has been, always will be. I am not Jewish, I am Christian. I was raised Lutheran, but I no longer am because I took the time to read the Bible and realize the truth and the right way to worship God. There is only one true faith on this earth, God’s faith. Jews are wrong because they don’t believe Jesus was God’s son. Christians are wrong because they hold the Sabbath on Sunday, the same day the pagans worshipped the “sun god”, hence the name sunday. Muslims are wrong because they believe in religious “jihad” upon many other things. The one true faith is God’s faith. It’s very simple and basic. You really want to know how to truly worship God and have Him on your side? Here’s how.
Start at Exodus 20. It’s the 10 commandments. Do everything the 10 commandments says, along with observing the 8 Holy celebrations, and you’re saved.
(The 8 Holy celebrations are: New Year, Passover, Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement, Feast of Tabernacles, and the Last Great Day.)
It’s as simple as that. There is no purgatory. Once saved always saved is completely wrong and evil. You can’t buy your way into heaven with money or gifts, only with pure faith and commitment to God. People are so set in their ways, and blind to the truth, and so unwilling to see the light that God gave up on trying to prove His existence 2,000 years ago. Who was the last prophet/disciple to live on this planet? Yes, it was in the time of Jesus and just after His death. People saw with their own eyes the beauty and righteousness that was Jesus, but they still refused to believe and follow God with their whole hearts. They chose to believe what they wanted, and what they didn’t want, they forgot. It amazes me that even grown up people are like children in their religious stubborness and ignorance. LOOK! Pick up a Bible and read it! You’ll see the truth, and understand that you may not have been as correct in your faith as you would like to have been. I hope I showed someone the light that is God. Where is it that God changes His Sabbath day to sunday? Where does it explain of a Trinity of God, Jesus, and the holy spirit in the Bible? Where does it say that people spend time in purgatory after death? Where did God say it’s ok to gamble? When did God say the worship of the mother mary was allowed? When did God say all the other false beliefs of the catholic church were acceptable? I want you to answer these questions straightforward and honestly. If you are truly of God, you can give me a reason why catholicism does these things. Let me explain something to you…
Start at Exodus 20:4 which is the second commandment:
“You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.”
You see, by having a likeness of God, Jesus, or any other likeness of any kind in a church, you are violating the second commandment. Nobody knows what Jesus looked like, yet people worship before a statue of Him, or paintings of Him, or other things with His likeness. The person at the company who designed the Jesus likeness’ for the church has NO idea what Jesus looks like, which means they are wrong about His appearance, which makes that a false idol. PERIOD!!!
I know, captain, that you will find something completely evil in my statement here, but you must know evil to see it! Just for conversation sake, here’s another thing God will have against the many protestant and catholic churches across the world.

“You shall not commit adultery”
To God, adultery is any sexual relation BEFORE a marriage, any sexual relationship with someone other than your spouse while married, or even having lustful thoughts about a woman in your mind. God explains later on that a man may only divorce his wife if she commits adultery. If the man divorces for reasons other than adultery, he will commit adultery every single time he has a sexual relationship with a woman, even if he is to be married again. The same with the woman. So, this being said, how is it that the catholic church allows divorce for non-adultery based cases? How is it the protestant church allows divorce for non-adultery based cases? How is it that ANY religion claiming to follow God, allows divorce for-non adultery cases? It is because that’s what the church wants, not what God wants. Now, captain, if you can explain this last subject to me in a reasonable and true manner and prove me wrong, I invite you to do so! Get over your religious ignorance. Invite the REAL God into your life, and you will be saved!

It is not up to you, I, or anyone else to tell chan (s)he is wrong. I’m not communist, but the basis of a communist government is equality and prosperity for every person, not just those who have the money to make more money. I would say the chinese government is oppressive in my view, however, this does not mean chan is supportive of the oppressive parts of the government. Regardless of anybody’s view on this, chan has a right to believe what (s)he believes. Now, on to the important matter at hand.
Captain, you talk about how the U.S. is the “righteous” nation of earth. You could never be more wrong. The U.S. initially had this mindset, but it was gone as soon as it came. Do you think it was ok for the U.S. government to massacre thousands upon thousands of native americans and force them from their homes, just so the american government could own more territory? Do you think it was ok for the U.S. government to allow slavery for almost 100 years before it did anything to stop it? Do you think it’s ok for the U.S. to force our government system/way of life onto the Iraqis and other outside nations? Do you think the american government has been “righteous” in the time it has existed? To tell you the truth, I think it’s been anything but “righteous”. Now, I am an american myself, and I enjoy the freedom I posess as a citizen. However, that does not mean I back the government’s decisions 100% of the time. This is the same as chan with the chinese government. He is happy to be chinese, but may not support the chinese government’s actions all the time.
Now, the last thing that MUST be said.
Captain, you say only 144,000 people in the whole history of mankind will be accepted into heaven. Where do you take this out of Revelation in the Bible? Yes, it is stated that 144,000 will meet with Jesus in the clouds, but there is so much more to it than that. You need to read the Bible more. Read the whole story, and not just the headlines.
144,000 will be chosen to fight with Jesus at the battle of Armageddon in the valley of Meggido. After the evil army of locusts is destroyed, Jesus and the 144,000 firstfruits will establish God’s kingdom on earth in Jerusalem. It is from that point forward after the kingdom is established that people who were less than perfect are accepted into the kingdom of heaven on earth. You see, the 144,000 are the most righteous of all men who have lived. They will serve in God’s government in this new worldwide, perfect society. All others who have lived close to righteous lives in God’s eyes will be accepted to dwell and live in the kingdom of God. This kingdom will last 1,000 years, the same 1,000 years as the 1,000 years of peace which is mentioned in Revelation. After that 1,000 years, every single solitary person who has existed in physical form during the whole history of earth will be resurrected to live for a short time. Every person is given one last chance to live according to God’s law. Satan is released at the end of the 1,000 years also, and it will be the last time Satan will ever exist. The final judgement upon each individual will occur at the end of the short time the people live again. It is at that point that God’s plan will be complete.
I hope everyone can understand the importance of this. Live your life as close to perfect as you can, because God will judge with a double-edged sword. He will have mercy upon only those who had mercy on their fellow man. Be kind to others, and you will be punished to a lesser extent. Money cannot buy your way out of this punishment. Being forgiven by a pastor or priest does not wipe away those sins. Being baptised does not wipe away those sins. Confession is a lie. There is only one entity an individual must confess to. That is God. In order to be forgiven for any unrighteous act, one must repent of that act, not simply ask for forgiveness and commit the act again. To repent is simply to ask forgiveness from God, and stop doing what is wrong. You must not even let the idea of committing the sin again cross your mind. It’s that simple.
One final word before I go.
