There has been a lot of attention about the way in which the Burmese government handled the issuing of visas to allow aid workers to enter the country. However, I have heard nothing about getting Burmese citizens out of the country, away from the disaster. Recently, my mother and sister, who are currently living in Yangon, were denied nonimmigrant visas to enter the United States to be with their family. How can I get the US Embassy to reconsider their decision?

I am looking for a friend who is Burmese and was 8 months pregnant when the cyclone hit... she lives in Yangon. If there is anyway to find out if she is alive - her phone is not working...

Any news on survivors at all?

Janice, my family is also through World Vision. They are just now getting into the Irrawaddy Delta, as far as I can tell. I know that they have three areas (world vision does) but do not know the townships of the areas. Two weeks ago they were able to get into three of the areas. I can only assume that the other one must be in the areas of the Delta that the government would not let anyone have access to. I still have not heard from my contacts or through any of these links if there is any lists. The BBC and CNN have even stopped giving it any air time. This is all very frustrating, I have to keep giving back to God and then of course, I take it back. If I find out any information at all I will post it here for you to find.
I am so grateful that we live in a land that has a better foundation than what they have to put up with.

I am also looking for a family that i help. All I know is that they live about 250 miles from Yangon - in the PaThien Township. Does anyone know where that is in reference to this storm. I have contacted a congressman and working on other rescources for a list of people - either gone or still living. if i come up with anything on that I will let you know Krista. i can relate to how worried you are. I hope you hear from your friend soon.

Looking at the comments on this blog. I am very regret for

the people of Myanmar (Burma) who encounter

unprecedented disaster. I sympathize people in Myanmar

because their life are restrictive such as food, water,

clothes, accommodations, medicine or money.

I tkink everyone should help people in Myanmar

because there are fellowmen

so we can contribution by institution such as government and private companies. The

institution is representation which have function to forward

accomodations or moneyfor casualty.

Therefore, I tkink everyone should help people in

Myanmar because who is neighbour very trouble.I am going

to change some attitudes for sad but I am going to

be more optimistic this event warn. You should get ready

about unprecedented

disaster.

You can give someone a hand for they.

To Krista ~~ I was in Burma a few weeks ago and learned that, even during the best of times, the internet is only sporadically available. YAHOO email and HOTMAIL are blocked by the government, though some people there have found ways around that. I also could not access my email through WEBMAIL. Because you have not heard from your friend does not mean that he has been injured. It may just mean that he cannot find a way to communicate with you. We spent two weeks with no contact at all with our friends/family ~~ and that was before this crisis struck.

To Krista,

there isn't any site where you can view the list of the survivors. Burma simply isn't organize to come up with such listing over the net when people are just fighting for one meal. the best for you to do is to call him/her on the phone if you have their number. other than that, there really isn't a way to find out.
