HULLO

Life in developing world is totally different from that in developed
world mostly in addressing afflicting points in one of the nations

community.
The 10 years experience in caring for the orphans in a developing
world, I have gone through a lot of tests /struggles without a funding
person except the only 30 acres of land that has been the main and only
funding source sustaining these kids who are beyond 150 in number.
We use to plant maize, cassava, rice, sweet potato, yams, beans and
   groundnuts.
We sell part and survive on the balance as the sold part is for books,
simple clothing and beddings for the kids,(that's the life of Ugandan
child).
Many disasters have befallen on us while the government has done very
little to address them to the maximum which among others include, wars,
floods, and the
total poverty on the increasing number of community
orphan child caused by different disasters.
Orphans in the villages of the developing world can make everyone to
shed tears including the administration that's why in Africa many fathers
do a lot evil accts to the people they take care of (i.e. sacrificing

e.t.c)
GEnerally it needs to develop everything GOD blessed us with like land, garden and others to make us tsand for the future and be helpfull to the whole world and ensure that the big and free land which developing world have in plenty, fully provides both funds and
foods for survival.
And as my topic is, the developing world orphans are internationally
forgotten with no one caring and for the few who cares they want to put
us together at the same level
with this who is in developed world. The
center reached to 210 children/ orphaned people who have joined this
year and we have to maneuver to ensure that they're not kicked out to
street life. Due to the problems and difficulty in caring for the orphan
child that includes a lot emphasis in many areas OF LIVING. For us we think the
only investment in our OWN
firm which may yield a lot in both food for survival and funds for other necessities but still.
We are
looking for solution / advise to enable us achieve our laid strategies of
caring for orphans since the situation at the center
needs attention and as Uganda position in development needs total
effort to sustain such centers.
Can you advise Banunule orphanage administrati``1`on oh the way of taking
the orphans a step further? And what is your advice?
Thanks

Cho, unfortunitly, you are probably like me, as in all we can do is feel sad about that situation and donate to relief organizations. The country is rich in natural resources, but, is exploited by its ruling generals. Its no wonder that it is considered the most corrupt nation on the world.

I can care less of the US vrs Myanmar spin, but, there is very little news of anything else coming out the country.
(Within a day of the events, the chinese earthquake already has detailed wikipedia article, whereas its 11days after the cyclone)

Did the government ignore the advance warning of the strength 3/4 cyclone heading to the coast?

What about aid from neighboring countries?

This is a time for humanity to rise to the aid of fellow humans who have been ravaged by a natural disaster.
We need to flood Myanmar with relief and ignore the wishes of the ruling junta, which can be eliminated by this disaster - possibly the 'real' reason it occured. They need to be ignored and steam rolled over as the needy are cared for - not the fears of the incompetent rulers who have shown they cannot cope in the face of a real disaster.
They are actually placing general's names on the care packages to get credit for providing these items - that is strong evidence of their fear and true motivation in their limited distribution while the real supplies await their blessing to be released to the true needy. This is a time to address the real issue of the disaster in human terms, a perspective the Myanmar rulers do not have. We will deal with them later after the crisis is over.

I have family members living in various parts of Myanmar including the capital city Rangoon and Loi Kaw. I wasn't able to contact my family members in Rangoon since the phone lines there are down but luckily I was able to contact the ones in Loi Kaw. My aunt told me the military is in Loi Kaw today and they are demanding people to vote. Only after the voting the military hands out food, water and other necessary supplies. Myanmar Junta is starving it's own people in order to make the people vote in their favor. This is the reason Myanmar Military has been delaying to aid the victims of Cyclone Nagris. "Unless the victims of Cyclone Nagris vote for the juntas, they will not receive any aid from them."

This was not actually a 'natural' natural disaster. There's information about how the ecosystems of the coastal region have been damaged such that absorption of impact from severe weather situations no longer occurs. It's somewhat along the same lines as New Orleans and the Mississippi delta destruction.

As to the 'junta' not being receptive to foreign assistance, I suppose we need to bear in mind the recent protests by the Buddhist monks. The government is acutely aware of the dissatisfaction of the general populace. Given the usual paranoia of this type of government, it's not beyond imagining that there is serious concern that 'aid workers' would actually be political subversives.

Even paranoids have enemies.

Please! This coverage is so one sided. Obviously the closed off micro-dictatorship in myanmar is terrified of being invaded! It is just the sort of thought that will pass through a paranoid dictators mind. They invaded Iraq, what will stop the mighty US military from invading our little country.
Ofcourse the US is not going to invade them. That's not how it works. But they don't believe that.

David, there is a big difference between the US and Myanmar governments... the Myanmar governments wants it people to die. It is a military dictatorship. It is at odds with many of its rural folks which it can't control militarily. It wasn't them weakened. It wants to hold food over their heads in order to keep them in line. It is worried that if it has to put large numbers of troops out there, folks might over throw them.

This is the same in dozens of African, Asian, South/Central American, and Middle-Eastern nations throughout the past century. Food is a weapon to these people, as is clean drinking water, access to schools, medical care, etc. Such things are cheaper weapons than having to put troops in every village. Accept our rule or... you get none of these. Iran, Pakistan, Somalia, North Korea, etc. all used aid to either "punish" opposition groups - be it religious, ethnic, or cultural.

The US didn't accept aid because it was confused. It certainly accepted aid once it had some idea what it needed. It didn't refuse aid because it was figuring out say how to kill off as many its opponents, to surpress ethnic/religion/cultural groups, to use aid as a bribe to support the government, or to line their own pockets. Myanmar isn't holding back aid because it is confused. It's government knows exactly what it is doing.

David, there is a big difference between the US and Myanmar governments… the Myanmar governments wants it people to die. It is a military dictatorship. It is at odds with many of its rural folks which it can’t control militarily. It wasn’t them weakened.

Accept our rule or… you get none of these. Iran, Pakistan, Somalia, North Korea, etc. all used aid to either “punish” opposition groups – be it religious, ethnic, or cultural.
