I am trying to find out about the damage done in the Pa Thein township. 250 kilometers away from Yangon City. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know. I have a sponsored child that lives there.

Thank you.

Kneecap: I think bob is referring to the government and not the citizens who REALLY do need aid and are asking for it.

bob: instead of giving aid elsewhere, I think we should give aid, but bypass the stupid government and treat them as if they didn't exist.

@bob

Sorry, when you say Myanmar doesn`t want our help, who exactly are you referring to? You certainly must not be referring to the tens of thousands of civilians who lost their homes in the storm. The same civilians living under an oppressive, dictatorial government who overwhelmingly supported a pro-democracy party and were then denied the right to have that party govern them.

My friend, if you think these people don`t want or deserve our help, I beg to differ. It is our obligation to help these people and we might even get some insight into their closed society when all these aid workers are allowed to enter.

Why are we bothering to offer help to Myanmar when they obviously don't want it? I say we take our services and hard working aid workers to other countries that aren't so stuck up and selfish. Let's stop sending them the help and see how they deal with it all on their own!!!

@ Henry Thomas...

Amazing that how quickly this becomes China related...

Doesn't hurt to check the news...

The UN says a plane loaded with 25 tonnes of supplies and a small team of rescue staff will arrive in Burma within days

The UN's World Food Programme has dispatched an additional four planes loaded with supplies including high-energy biscuits

Chinese media say a plane carrying 60 tonnes of aid has landed in the biggest city, Rangoon
