PK,
Your comments really make sence to me this time, I agreed. Peace is the ultimate objective.Especially, "I do find his recent actions odd, but I also think it must be an impossible job to be a spiritual leader and a
politician, those jobs just don’t mix!" :-)
Peace @ many blessings to you.

Smells like propaganda.

Nothing has changed for me, it still boils down to who is telling the more accurate version of truth DL; or or China?

We still had racial segregation here 50 years ago and slavery before that. Americas' founding father had slaves too. That's the way the world was. I don't condone it, but I wouldn't judge on that fact alone, specially 50+ years ago.

I don't think the Dalai Lama wants Tibetan feedom so he can have slavery again. You'll have to post some very strong evidence to convince me of that.

I do find his recent actions odd, but I also think it must be an impossible job to be a spiritual leader and a
politician, those jobs just don't mix!

Also, when I referred to the little guy, I was referring
to the Tibetan people.

As for true Buddhism, there is no such thing in my opinion. Personal spirituality must be like your mind, flexible and adaptable. One simply can not write down tenets and make people live by them for millenia, that's just silly and small minded. The core of Buddhism is perfectly logical t me, most everything else seems ceremonial or superstitious, but then again, I'm not a terribly deep person ;)

Most importantly to me, is the emphasis on personal growth. It is our responsibility to become better people. Instead of asking forgiveness, maybe try not sinning?

pkarhatsy,
Ok, see your point here.
Da Lai is regarded as "Reborn Buddha", he is not a little guy, he should have better Wisdom to resolve his promblem. He should have Wisdom to bring more Peace to his country China and his Tibet people. He should know his True Spiritual duties and duties as being a Citizen of a country.

He has his right of decision on his path to either fulfil his duties (both to his country and to all human beings with his true spirit) on Earth or trying abuse peoples' trust. He should know how. His actions will naturally lead to reactions by people, no one is able to defend him. He will be naturally be held responsible by "reaction" which no one can actually prevent any remarks given to him from people. He is not a "little guy".He is big enough to decide. He can do any wonderful and meaningful thing he like to. His mind is smarter than many people. "What Spirit Leader", "what" here is for him to decide freely.
This apply to everyone. Please Understand True Buddhism before we can trust any man's teaching. See all things which had been done by a man to see his real motivation.

Chan, you're alright :)

I've been talking a lot of crap no doubt, and while talk certainly is cheap, I saw no one defending a man and people that I respect that have suffered great abuses for long enough.

Refer back to the starting comments on this page, and then my tone seems more reasonable (eg, "We need to beat Dalai like a dog until he grovels before us.")

I find this deeply offensive and I will openly criticize anyone defending this position to no end.

USA is far from perfect too, but we have the freedom to make change. I don't believe in world police, but I believe someone needs to stick up for the little guy as well as keep an eye on each other.

@ pkarhatsy
"I do think the wolf is among us, but he’s not in a robe."
"Freedom and diversity are the signs of a healthy society.
Those appear to be lacking in China to everyone except those reading only Chinese news. While westerners are subject to the opposite side of that, we still strive to find the truth and some of it does leak out"

I think it should be wolf is among us including those in a robe. This would be more rational.
And, you are not perfect, and you are not more perfect than many others either. This apply to all.

The freedom and diversity are more perfect either in the Western. So I don't think that your country is in more perfect health because of your " whatever Freedom and diversity" that is not perfect. It is not a good and right or perfect practise to criticise others when you yourself actually do not have a clear understanding of eastern civilisation and culture, as your unclearness lead to your criticism is not perfect either.
Your rotten criticism is a product from your own thought and it really belong to your head.

Peter Karhatsy:

Well, Thank you. I kind of feel honored to be called a redneck. I have been called all sort of things but never a redneck before. On top of that, a Commie too.

Maybe it is because I am rooting for Obama. I'll definitely be wearing my Obama T-shirt at the next monster truck rally or WWE Smack Down. Hope they don't think I am rooting for Osama.

Peter, I really don't care about Taiwan or what not. They can do whatever the heck they want; Declare independence, reunify, or run around butt naked. Power to them.

What I really dislike are people that look and act stupid, especially when they don't have to. And peter, since you claim you are an Obama supporter too, I got to come down especially hard on you.

People already think that

Peter Karhatsy = Explosive Diarrhea

We can't have people making the same link with Obama, can we? Hey, if I was Obama, I wouldn't want some stupid know nothing a**hole supporting me.

Frankly, Peter my dear, I don't believe for a second that you are an Obamacan. You sounded like a John "shoot then gook" McCain supporter. Or worst yet, a Billary supporter.

There's no way that an Obama supporter can be that arrogant, stupid, ignorant, and smug. We are going to be totally screwed, if there are people like you support Obama.

Admit it, Peter, You are a Billary Fan. Your words had shown you to be nothing else.

Also, even a Commie Redneck like me knows that the one-child policy doesn't apply to Tibetans. They can have up to 3 children.

Again, you're just too stupid to be an Obamacan, but just right for a Billary nut.

Yet you did respond....MOOOO

I may be some or all of the things I've been called here, but I'm still not wrong. Tibetan Autonomy and a return of their lands and lifestyle is a bare minimum requirement to make things right. HHDL as leader is optional, country status is optional. Is that so bad?

Freedom and diversity are the signs of a healthy society.

I do think the wolf is among us, but he's not in a robe.

From Wiki:
Affirmative Action describes policies aimed at a historically socio-politically non-dominant group (typically, minority men or women of all races) intended to promote access to education or employment. Motivation for affirmative action is a desire to redress the effects of past and current discrimination that is regarded as unfair.

It isn't very popular in this country, as most people believe the best person should get the job, not the best minority woman needed to fill a demographic quota, but that's just how it is implemented here.

Kain,
I'm only a a-hole to those that are deserving.
This isn't pro wrestling, but it's nice to see your ancestors efforts have paid off in your education, attitude and taste in TV shows. You like monster trucks and Budweiser too? I've heard of Asian Rednecks before, but not ones that could write on the Internets.

I never said you weren't American. What I meant was, you speak like a Communist Chinese patriota sometimes , blind to the facts but believing everything they read (which is almost all propaganda).

How can you live here and claim to know what is truly happening there? China lets out no information through the great firewall they don't want out. It seems we are all suffering from the lack of truth to some degree.

As for my ignorance, it's getting a little old, I've admitted my ignorance on internal chinese policy, but beyond that I challenge you to try to prove it.

You may be fourth gen American, but you've still learned little about America. I am first Generation and I know more about freedom than most Americans, but that's because I come from a free societyand I'm just lucky. So, what is your position on Taiwan Kain? Would they be better off "back" with China?

Simple fact is China = Oppressor. They can't even build a school properly, how will they build this great concept of one China? I consider that a tragedy on a scale worse than Katrina and our levee building issues and much like this country, China needs to seriously reevaluate it's position and where it fits globally.

Tang, thanks for the clarification, my point is that they shouldn't be subject to Chinese laws at all. Taxing the unemployed is not so sporting either. Urgument nullified, but I appreciate the info, it is not readily apparent and I'll look for a source to back it up.

Tibetans should not be subject to the one child rule, Chinese keep killing them off so that's not good sport, is it?

Call it Western media obfuscation, but the maps I grew up with all had Tibet with it's own borders on it. Too bad the maps all made in China now huh? Shoulda seen that coming.

Basically it boils down to this: Either believe you and your fellow Commies or believe a Nobel Peace prize winner who is one of the most honorable people on the planet. Hmm....

Peace
(and Go Obama!)

I am first Generation and I know more about freedom than most Americans, but that’s because I come from a free societyand I’m just lucky. So, what is your position on Taiwan Kain? Would they be better off “back” with China?

Simple fact is China = Oppressor. They can’t even build a school properly, how will they build this great concept of one China? I consider that a tragedy on a scale worse than Katrina and our levee building issues and much like this country, China needs to seriously reevaluate it’s position and where it fits globally.

Tang, thanks for the clarification, my point is that they shouldn’t be subject to Chinese laws at all. Taxing the unemployed is not so sporting either. Urgument nullified, but I appreciate the info, it is not readily apparent and I’ll look for a source to back it up.

Tibetans should not be subject to the one child rule, Chinese keep killing them off so that’s not good sport, is it?

Call it Western media obfuscation, but the maps I grew up with all had Tibet with it’s own borders on it. Too bad the maps all made in China now huh? Shoulda seen that coming.

Basically it boils down to this: Either believe you and your fellow Commies or believe a Nobel Peace prize winner who is one of the most honorable people on the planet. Hmm….

Peace
(and Go Obama!)

Peter Karhatsy:

Don't be an a**hole, Peter!

"It’s great that you live in this country and enjoy our freedoms my_mother,.."

What the f**k does that mean? Am I a just a GUEST in America, your country? What? America is not my country too? God damn! Just when I thought that you couldn't get any stupider, you came out and surprised me again.

Well, Peter, I have to thank you for being so magnanimous as to allow little old me to enjoy "your" freedom in my own freaking country. Oh thank you, Masta! Yeasa, you sure are generous, Masta.

I agree with you that "being a blind patriot doesn’t make you a patriot...", but if you look and act stupid that makes you stupid in my book.

Dude, you really don't see myself and others like me as full fledge Americans, do you? Is that why you choose to "differentiate"? Somehow, in your eyes that "American Citizen" are qualitatively different than "true red blooded Americans".

So, tell me. What does it take for me to be one of the regular Joes; one of the "real Americans"? Do I have to talk and act like you? Or flaunt the same idiocy that comes out the mouths so much of your ilk like explosive diarrhea?

Oh pardon me. It is not explosive diarrhea, but rather the "God spoken Gospel", right? Because they came out of your mouth, everything that spring forth are essentially the truth, right? Is that why your don't bother to check whether or not the crap that comes out of your mouth is true or not? Because they came out of your mouth, they must be true.

Peter, you are f**king 35 years old. You're not some stupid little kid that doesn't know any better. You owe it, if not to yourself, to your daughter to be a bit more educated; to be a little bit less ignorant. Go read up a bit and think hard before you open your mouth.

I won't even address you Borg comment. It is so freaking stupid!

Hey Peter! FYI, I am fourth generation! My great grandfather helped build this country. He helped build California. I guess that still doesn't make him American. And it still doesn't make me a "real American", right?

Only you can stop yourself from being a ***che bag.

best
Kain

pkarhatsy,

I'm a little surprised that after months of on-going debate in the internet world about Chinese policies for Tibetans, you still have so many deeply held misconceptions.

Tibetans have every single legal right available to me or any other Chinese citizen. There's nothing that I can legally do that they can not do.

Tibetans in China are also benefactors of a number of affirmative action policies that place *their* interests above all other Chinese citizens. For example, from what I understand Tibetans pay zero in taxes. They are also exempt from the "one child" policy that all Han Chinese are subject to. They receive a very substantial boost when applying to university, more substantial than the type of affirmative action in education found in the United States.

If we want to talk in a very stark black/white sense, in China, Tibetans (and most other ethnic minorities) are a "higher" class of citizen than the Han Chinese majority.

@pkarhatsy

-> Except here you have affirmative action to “protect” minority rights, in China it is opposite for Tibetans.

Wrong. Tibetans enjoy relaxed University entrance requirements, more government fundings and a relaxation of the one child policy.

-> Dalai Lama was born in a country called Tibet

A place called Tibet; it is still called Tibet. Too bad they lack the foresight to push for proper statehood; but history has no do overs. Cry all you want.

-> don’t you think a Tibetan has the same rights in their own country?

Tibetans have the same rights(sometimes more rights) in China than their fellow Chinese citizens.

-> and that makes you a state sponsored mouthpiece.

LOL. Always amusing to hear people say that.

" . . .same as good ole USA does for it citizens. Except here you have affirmative action to “protect” minority rights, in China it is opposite for Tibetans. . . "

Actually some affirmative actions in the U.S.A is to take away minorities' rights. correct me if I am wrong.

tibetans can have more than one child vs. Hans have 1 child, isn't this positive affirmative action?

In this case, being a blind patriot doesn't make you a patriot in my book, so I will choose to differentiate, yes. You might claim he's Chinese, but China will claim he is a minority, same as good ole USA does for it citizens. Except here you have affirmative action to "protect" minority rights, in China it is opposite for Tibetans.

HHDL bows to the mighty will of China because he is a realistic human and knows China does not change it's mind on these issues or ever admit mistakes.

Am I defending American Policies? No. I am being critical of Chinese policy on invading a foreign territory. Dalai Lama was born in a country called Tibet, and now it no longer exists becaue of Communist decision of unification and in the process, they are destroying a unique culture, the key word being unique there.

I hate no one. I despise those that try to govern others by imposing their will upon them.

It's great that you live in this country and enjoy our freedoms my_mother, don't you think a Tibetan has the same rights in their own country? Or because they are now a minority in their own country they deserve less(or nothing)? That attitude would make sense, because that is what is happening, and that makes you a state sponsored mouthpiece. Is that how you pay for college.

For all the Trek Fans, think of the Borg. They can't see past their own programming, so any deviance from it is impossible, even it if is correct. I wonder if Communist China was the inspiration for the Borg?
