The CCP can just outright buy a stake in a major news media outlet. Afterwards, they can either make it spin a story its direction or perhaps use it to vet journalists before bringing them into the Chinese media system. That's not quite so shocking, especially since Rupert Murdoch has started to inject his own views into the WSJ. Actually, there’s one solution the article didn’t really go into.
