Armenia: Homophobic Values

Unzipped: Gay Armenia comments on the recent suicide of a 22-year-old ethnic Armenian living in the United States. According to the blog, the young man killed himself after being forced into marriage by his family who were ashamed of his homosexuality. The blog says that the story represents the homophobic values in place in both Armenia and its Diaspora.

I am an Armenian tht grew up in the states and lives no in Austria (europe)…… Am proud 2 be an Armenian & gay…. I have an Austrian boyfriend…… I just wanted 2 say is, “rest in peace (even though i didn’t know him) my friend……”
