tibet can not be separated from china.
immagine that situation:
if tibet announce independent,
what about the other 54 minorities in China?
Tibet must be free, xingjiang must be free,
neimenggu must be free, xichuan must be free,
beijing must be free....
tibet culture is killed out by han people?
I cannot understand why some people think that way.
han people should be restricted to getting in tibet?
China is not the only country with many ethnic groups,
History told us that ethnic isolating is not a good way.
tibetans can marry han people, han can go business in
tibet, so do tibetans. That is very natural.
the exiled tibetan can not represent tibetans,
they are descents of tibet noble who lost their power.
Now tibet is becoming closer and closer connected to this
huge country, someone is very scared, very angry.
Which words should we tell these people?
Tibet is a part of China, get used to it!

Why are some people making judgments against China, on the basis of pseudo-videos, pseudo-reports and hearsay information? What makes it even worst is that the same people haven’t the slightest idea about Chinese Culture or history. Although I am not Chinese, I can only tell you that no matter how much you persist in unfairly using Politics to boycott the Olympics games, the entire world will witness the Greatness of Beijing Olympics as well as China’s unique culture to such an extent that you may even find you own selves applauding. Just take the ''hate'' out of your hearts and you will feel much better. Think about it ....

Karze...

When you answering all the questions. You must be hated all the Chinese and China.

Nonsense!!!!

You have no idea and don't understand China. You are standing one side of the case to condemn China and the Chinese. Read more to know the history better before giving the answers.

You are like one of those idiots and coursing more problems by the influence of the western media. Or you may be one of them who keen to see one separate from others in their country.

Who are you to make judgement….ha! And that is none of your business; you MUST keep your mouth shut and mind your own business. You don’t like the Chinese and China? And you will be hated by the Chinese too…..

If you are an Indian, you should concern more about Sri Lanka affair, the Tamil tiger and the Sri Lankan.

Peter:

1. Do you know that from Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), every dalai have to be entitled by the Chinese King?

Answer:
Totally false. Dalai Lama came to power with help of Mongols not Chinese.

2. If Tibet is separated (like Kosovo), who will always be the winners? (Dalai? the U.S., or the EU). Can they play the Kosovo card on Tibet?

Answer:
Tibetan people are living in the gilded cage now.

3. Do you know that in the old society of Tibet, they used to kill living people for religious ceremony? (Using human skins to make drums).

Answer:
Not at all, in fact Buddhist refrain from killing even insects. Its Chinese who are omnivorous who eats all animals from rats, snake, civeats which caused SARS epidemic globally in 2004.

4. Do you think the separatists or protesters have been to Tibet? Or, they aren’t possible to be hired by some political related agencies?

Answer:
All those who protested are local Tibetans people in Tibet.

see the maps of protests:
http://www.phayul.com/tibet/protest%2Dmap/

5. Do you think a man who hasn’t been to Tibet for 50 years (two generations) can represent Tibetan people? As a normal Tibetan person, who knows him?

Answer:
Then why is Beijing asking Dalai Lama to use his influence to calm down the protesters in Tibet Autonomous Region, Sichuan, Gansu, Qianghai and Yunan.

6. The population in Tibet in 1953 was around 1 million, how come dalai claim that 1.2 million Tibetan were killed by communists at that time?

Answer:
Total population of Tibet (TAR, Qinaghai, Gansu (10%), Sichuan(50%) and Yunan(10%) is 6 million.

7. Do you think that the CNN and NBC will send enough journalists to Tibet to guarantee their news is real and credible? They would consider this worthwhile to spend this money?

Answer:
If Chinese government has nothing to hide then let the world see the skeletons in the cupboard.

8. Do you know why that “the U.S. presidential election”, “Taiwan presidential election”, “Beijing Olympics 2008” and “Tibet protests” happen at the same time? Are they coincident?

Answer:
Utter nonsense

9. Do you know that Dalai isn’t the only holy monk in Tibet? Another one is Bainqen. Do you know that now, the Tibet autonomous region is indeed managed by Tibetans themselves?

Answer:
The fake Panchen Lama the real Panchen lama is under house arrest since 1995 when is was 6 years old. He is the youngest political prisoner in the world.

10. After you watch the protests of both separatists and anti-separatists, do you think you are more intelligent or better informed than over 1 billion Chinese, 50 million Chinese overseas?

Answer:
Truth will always win in the end. You can cover up now.

11. Do you think a person like dalai can be holy honest when this person has his schedule to meet every statesman from U.S., U.K., France, and Germany every month? Who will pay salaries for his followers and air tickets?

Answer:
Thats is not your business. Who pays for Hu Jintaos

12. Dalai was the vice president of people congress of China before he escaped in 1959. Do you think it’s possible that for almost 50 years; four generations of governors of China have never talked a little with this man?

Answer:
China occupied Tibet since 1950.

13. For the videos showing the massacre of Tibetans, do you believe that during the 1950s, in a mountainous village of 4000+ meters and lack of oxygen, who has the interest and leisure to install a camera in advance to record these scenarios? If not, who are the directors and actors?

Answer:
Its Chinese video thats were smuggled out after bribing the officials.

14. Do you support a slavery society in the old Tibet? Or, do you believe that a religious state (worse than Muslim countries) is a better solution for Tibet? If you are a modern Tibet person, do you really believe a God-like person should exist in a democratic society?

Answer:
Its for a Tibetan people to decides. When Han Chinese chooses to live under Stalinist regimes of Mao. Why not Tibet want to live peacefully under Dalai lama.

15. If you are dalai, what will you do? Enjoy as a holy monk abroad or go back and face the hates by 1 billion Chinese. If I pretend that I want to go back, my followers can continue to enjoy political/financial supports from those western states.

Answer:
Dalai Lama do not wants to go to China but he very like and has the right to his country Tibet - which makes up 25% of Chinese land mass up to Chengdu in Sichaun.

16. Do you know that in fact Tibetans in China enjoy more privileges over Han people? (They are not subject to the only-child policy, they enjoy a higher salary plus states supports and their children have priorities to enter best schools in China)

Answer:
Totally false. Tibetans in Tibet are treated as second class in their country. All the bosses are Chinese, Tibetans are compelled to learn Chinese to get job in Tibet.

Last year government recruited 2 Tibetans in Lhasa and rest 98 were Han Chinese in government offices. Is that discrimination based on race.

17. If you believe in freedom, do you think it’s a justified means to force Tibetans into a religious states and the reign of a godlike person. Who will suffer from a shift of societies? Only Tibetans?

Answer:
Its for Tibetans to decide and not Han Chinese to force on Tibet.

Yes, those Indians are bad who humilate minorities. Just as some minorities who may think about the majority in a bad way. And there are many other faults which I will accept. So, are those Chinese must be bad who choose to kill their own people for expressing themselves. And the list can continue including the Western countries etc. etc. Just the way I accept that I must personally morally support people living with me - like the tibetians. I do not yet start criticising China, because I do not know much. But Dalai Lama words - I identify with totally and I have no reason to doubt him. Its rather simple?

@ Mr M

Since you are from India I want to ask you how you would like your neighbourhood to be broken up to pieces.

Indians are notoriously famous for treating the christians and muslim minorities INHUMANLY.

Bet I will see thousands of Indians rallying down the Indian street protesting if anyone from hollywood say anything bad about "aiswara Rai".

Dear Sadly,

When you love your family dearly, what do you do when there are problems? You try to help and solve them. Is the Same to the country. When your member family don't speak out, doesn't mean is hidings something. Try to understand the objectives of China. She slowly is moving to a new life. With 1.3 b people is not easy to handle or rather say not all 1.3b people can receive same life it will cost the country a lot. Therefore she is trying so hard to strengthen the economy.

You don't tell is batter than lies, yet the lies that damage and hurt others this is the worst. China issue is up to China to handle, not others.

Hi Sadly

It is two separate things in my opinion. Yes, in the current China, a lot of things can not be reported because government controls it. Whether it is good to the country or not, it is up to Chinese to decide, right?

I agree that there is certain lack of self-criticalness in Chinese culture, which is not really helping Chinese to move faster. However, it is saturated through thousands year of culture and histories.

Since Chinese culture is not perfect, can they demand a respect and truth-telling? I guess the answer is yes.

Why do you shame for? Being a Chinese? Up to you.

You want to hear the voice from a ordinary Chinese? I am one.
I cannot provide so many datas you required but i can tell you what's my experiences.
It's very strange to me to see these peopel who never come to China to comments about Tibet is this way, Tibet is that way. I am currently located in Sichuan province, which is just besides Xizang (Tibet's name is Chinese Pinyin). I had oppertunity to went to Tibet for once in 2004 and that is really a bueatiful heven. I like people there and they also like me. in Sichuan province there are still several Tibetan autonomous counties. I also had oppertunities to travel there for several times and I really enjoy myself there. I also know a Living Buddha there and had very happy conversation with him. I also have some Tibetan friends in Chengdu and Kangding (if you don't know where it is... how can you talk about Tibet??), I never heard them talk about apart from China. we regard us all as Chinese.
you western people you said you respect the "public opinine"? ok. why do you just ignore the voices from Chinese people? you are not the GOD, and we don't need your coach on how Chinese people should do.
yes, we still have some problem, but we have confidence that we can resolve it ourselves.

here is my suggestions for you:
1) have a good study of history, including history of your own country. especially for Mr M. from India.(one India friend tell me if an India use Letter as their name it means they are untouchable for generations, it's india's unique cluture, pls correct me if I were wrong?)
this work will be very simple to US guys as you have only 200 yrs history to learn. you can spare more time to study other contries'. you know, it's not so easy for us Chinese, we have more than 4000 yrs, it require us to use our whole life to study its history, culture, and Weltanschauung...
2) welcome to China, trust your own eyes, that can easily make you shut up. the turth is, many western people were superised with what they saw when they come to China for the 1st time. They are superise China is different from western media told them. even Chengdu, it's much developed then many US cites.

Hi Benny2

as you said "My understanding is that between the fall of the Qing and the rise of the communist Tibet was in fact autonomous and independent to some extant, but since no country officially recognised them as such and they didn’t ask to be recognised as such , they have lost their chance of an official support from anyone."

First of all, between Qing dynasty and Communist China, there is Republic of China, which fled to Taiwan. The General Ma Bu Fang crushed those riots in Tibet during that time. Since General Ma was a muslim, the muslim was hated by some of Tibetans even in the current time. That brought Tibet under China territory.

Secondly, you said the same thing that they lost their chance.

2)Tibet issue clearly become the tool to:
 a. bring down communism.
 b. dominate power.

3)Olimpic is just not the political issue; I am strongly oppose those take olimpic games for granted.

subjectivelistener :
you didnt answer my question, if Tibet at that time was a part of China, why didn't it follow Chinese laws? I have seen a CCTV documentary where they spoke about horrible rules and regulations in Tibet during the Dalai Lama's regime, why did Tibet have different rules than China? Also why were they not using Chinese money? Why did they have their own army?

@subjectivelistener: The world is not flat and china has OCCUPIED tibet. I you use only fact but not wishes you get a short-sited view of the world and you cannot shape the future. The future should be made of wishes!

@Rick: I generally agree with you rick but then you justified use of military force. This is totaly wrong. Pre-emptive war? How does killing people justify the cause of freeing other people? Do you think tibetans would be happy for this? Don't try to push american interests in the region. The US is thousants of miles away. Stay home and pay your mortgage!

@Sadly: I was happy to read your comment. You proved that my good faith in chinese people was right. I wish there were more people like you.

@Julie: "Ain’t they supporters of peace and hope? Don’t they believe in fate and natural forces of the universe?"
Yes but they also believe in freedom and the dalai lama. I'm sure they would have solved this peacefully if they could rather than getting killed by the dozens!

"China is opening faster than gradually, a pace that might be considered too fast not for the world but for the people inside to catch up. Democracy only works in civilised countries with educated people who are at least able to make some basic judgment and have basic common sense. While many of the Chinese in China are growing and learning faster than anyone you could imagine, there are still many who are not even aware of all the basic needs. My personal view is that it is naive of those who blindly expects a country to provide total freedom to their people while most of the people are actually ‘babies’ who are not even able to help themselves with the basic needs."

This comment sounds very reasonable on the surface. But china is one of the oldest civilisations the world has known! I think this is twisting the truth. China is a superpower and has a very strong military force. If all chinese banged their feet on the ground at the same time, there would be earthquakes across the earth:) I think it is naive to see china as a baby.
Still, i take your point and i recognise that wealth, education and quality of life are not evenly distributed across the chinese polulation.

"Good deed cannot simply be doing something good. Good intention might not result in good outcome. Deeper thoughts and understanding is required. I know in the end, I can’t expect all leaders are wise and intelligent." I'm with you on this. That's why the world needs active citizens and ways they can control the actions of the politicians(democracy). Did you know that in ancient greek democracy in Athens they didn't only vote for the leader they wanted, but also fot the political figure the thought fooled them or didn't do what the people ordered. This person would be sent away from athens in exile and all his property was confiscated. THAT was democracy. Imagine the world if we did that today :)

@Neutral: Nice point, nicely said.
