Thanks for the nice blog, I would like to give another perspective of things for those not familiar with Pakistani Politics. I personally am from the region and have been following geopolitical events since my childhood. What I can tell you guys is although I totally disagree with how Benazir was killed, in an unjust manner. This does not justify her policies or her record over the last decades.

My views against her are certainly not based on whether she’s a woman or not. But she did flee the country on corruption charges not once but twice. Her husband was nicknamed Mr. 10% for a reason, illegally pocketing 10% of government contracts during her rule. Also, she was readily willing to cooperate, more than Musharraf, with the U.S. whether or not it was in nation interests. What I’m saying is although her killing without a legal process was definitely unjust, it should not cover her past record of corrupt rule and missed opportunites to bring the nation back on its feet throughout the ninties. Besides those in her party the rest of the nation did not want to see her in power a third time.
