I was very sad to hear that Mr Smith had passed away. He was probably the only honest politician I have ever known. What a wonderful example of leadership he was. Rest in peace, you are remembered with great respect and nostalgia.

Mr. Ian Smith was a great man, a man with vision. Mr. Mugabe is the living proof of it.

Ian Smith did not fight the English, it was the british government he was up against. the brit government is made up of English,Welsh ,Scots and Irish people. The Labour government at that time and like the one today is predominately Scottish.

Ian Smith along with many of his generation including My own father and grandfather left the comfort of their homes in Africa to fight in far off lands to save the U.K. from Nazis. After the 2nd world war the political landscape changed so much that they where betrayed by the "mother"(sic) country that they where so loyal to. Today in the U.K the Socalist students of the seventies are the now ruling regime, who take immense delight in back slapping ceremomies ,unveiling statues in London to Africans. Statues and tributes for the great Man, The Honorable Ian Smith are not to be found.
