Armenia: Genocide Recognition or Democracy?

Raffi K and Arshineh, both bloggers from the Armenian Diaspora writing on Life in Armenia, post letters they've written to U.S. Congress Speaker Nancy Pelosi praising her for House Resolution 106 which recognizes the Armenian Genocide. Despite increasing pressure not to do so, both hope that Pelosi will still bring the resolution to a full vote by the U.S. Congress next month.
However, another Diasporan blogger, Christian Garbis at Notes from Hairenik, instead challenges ethnic Armenians living abroad to stop talking about the Genocide for just one week. Although not against the resolution, he suggests that they instead tackle some of the social or political problems facing Armenia if only for just seven days.
Local blogger Bekaisa appears to agree with him and posts the full text of an article in the Washington Post that says pretty much the same thing. “Imagine what the Armenian diaspora might have accomplished had it worked as hard for democracy,” the newspaper asks.
