Bech raises this question among others: “Is there something that differentiates Islamic movements from other movements?“
And he answers, tentatively: “The difference is in the language used as representative of a different ‘form' of consciousness (culture, etc.) shaped by different institutions and power relations in place.”
Adil Najam discusses about a recently released list of 8000 persons including the president of Pakistan and 34 Pakistani politicians who have benefited from the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), promulgated by former president Pervez Musharraf on Oct 5, 2007. This ordinance “grants amnesty to all those against whom politically-motivated cases were registered between Jan 1, 1986, and Oct 12, 1999.”

Dear brothers!
I am supporter of Islamic Party. To my great regret, many Islamic movements are inactive now. However, Muhammad taught us to act more ambitious: to overthrow bourgeois power for freeing of the poor Muslims. Unfortunately, at present many Islamic leaders are infantile and cowardly. But Muhammad told that the real Muslim should be brave and do everything to bring Islam to all the people. From my point of view, the reason why the Islamic movements suffer failure is that many Islamic leaders are cowardly and weak. I hope that you are the real Muslims, that’s why I am writing you this letter. I wrote many Islamic leaders worldwide, but an overwhelming majority is weak.
I am a member of The Islamic Party. I live in the one of ex-soviet republic (not in Russia). Elite of our Party cooperated with local authorities (for example, they are loyal to the sale of alcohol and casino). However, some of the members (including myself) decided to continue fighting for pure Islam: we are going to open a publishing house. We want to print and distribute Islamic literature among the poor people. Could you please invest some money to this project? We do not need a big amount of money.
Best regards,
Your brother Muslim.
P.S.: I am sorry for my poor English.
DEAR BROTHERS HELP us PLEASE. DO NOT ALLOW SELLING MOSLEMS TO CLOSE our ISLAMIC MOVEMENT WHICH SUPPORTS RETURNING To CLEANLINESS of the EARLY ISLAM.
I WRITE to YOU DEAR BROTHERS, to THAT I very much HOPE THAT YOU BRAVE PEOPLE. IN FACT And-for COWARDLY And SELLING LEADERS, WORLDWIDE there is an OPPRESSION of MOSLEMS
