We are getting into a very unfortunate zone when a blogger can be held accountable for a comment that is posted on his/her blog. At that level, there should be a widespread campaign -- with the appropriate level of transparency -- about the suggested guidelines (like having a comment policy) and the country's laws holding bloggers accountable.,,if the government is legally able to position it as so. Afterwards, we get into the grey zone of whether anonymous commenting should be allowed. Comments can come in from overseas. But so should alternative news stations (just as Al Jazeera should be allowed to be aired in the West). And, just like secret balloting, anonymity in commenting allows for a greater degree of honesty, if not 'truth.' Fear (of reprisal) closes down such honesty. It would seem that, given the worldwideness of the net, some international court should weigh in with a defense of democracy, or at least freedom of speech.
