Sierra Leone: Election update

Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone election update: “If you don't know by now let me be the first to say that THERE WILL BE A RUN OFF….No political party will be able to get 55% of the votes in this first round. Also there are many of my friends in the diaspora who believed the APC PROPAGANDA MACHINE and have been circulated a preliminary result form printed in AWOKO Newspaper….those results are not valid and do not represent the current picture.”

My belove people of sierra leone, I will like to say this, that S/L do not need any political party to come and brain wash us but we need someone who will be in a very good position to lebrate S/L from its past terror which destroy the future our country. S.L.P.P, A.P.C, P.N.D.P ETC………. ARE NOT WHAT WE NEED!!!!! BUT!! someone that have love for the people, someone who can improve education, health care, infrastructure etc.. and that the someone S/L needs so Brothers & Sisters be smart and think brave this is Sao Bockarie from United State.

I partly agree with Sao Bockarie, but the point is that one person will not be able to do it. It’s going to take a group of people with the same idea and interest. to be able to make that change. One person would be easily influenced by the bad crowd and easily taken down. And most of all tribalism should not be a part it.

Fellow Sierra Leoneans, most of us have been following the elections back home. One thing is clear and that is, the people of our country have spoken loud and clear. THEY WANT CHANGE.Sierra Leoneans are no longer in slumber. There has been improved level of awareness. Gone are the days when people will accept sugarcoated words from politicians. What Sierra Leoneans are now saying is that they will give politicians the mandate to control our resources but if they mess about, they are out irrespective of whatever party in power. So whoever will be in power, should be ready to learn and learn with an open mind or else sierra leoneans will use their democratic power to kick a dysfunctional government out of office. Bravo to NEC, Bravo to all Sierra Leoneans.

  • All Sierra Leoneans must applaud the effort made by NEC and government of the day, to one of Sierra Leone’s best historical electoral benchmarks. It was explicably unimaginable that our government and people contributed imensely for a positive and flawless election process. This is a sign leading our nation to a path of sensible and responsible leadership. I also owe all security forces, for example; police, special security forces, criminal investigation department including the military establisments for their willingness and preparedness in taking a proactive stance to comfotrtably handle the security situation at a time of peril and bitter resentments. I personally believe our nation is deeply divided in a manner consist to tribal bigitory including anilation of other discriminatory pardons of behavior. My suggestion to every Sierra Leoneans is to refrain completely from all wreckless and reprehensible statements; anticipatory for selfish political purposes. I further warn average citizens not to fight or engage in any lithal confrontation from either sides, because whoever wins will have to adhere to the following: Pledge of partisan allegiance
    Enhance family allegiance
    Think about themselves
    Lastly, think about the nation.
So you benifit nobody if you choose to kill or be killed. Please save your breath for you are one future potential leader of your country. As many rightly mentioned, it dose not matter who really wins, but one ready to sacrifice, apply both interllectual and culturally co-existing wisdom and awillingness to demonstrate tolerance, honesty and integrity.
I will say more next time.

    Respectfully Sincere,
    Ahmed Alfred Bowling.

  • Sierra Leone enjoy your first pride to a path of honesty and never attempt to erode this unbeatable challange. Please walk peacably to the run-off schedule for September 8, 2007 and excercise your constitutional right and vote your heart and conscience. I will profoundly appreciate who is desperate to divorce trbalism, nepotism, sectionalism and vote on issues vital to our national interest. What Sierra Leoneans must do is to throw the past behind and focus on participatory partnership and reconciliatory actions aimed at accomplishing development oriented seeking solutions. Its about time we feel confident that we can show good and vibrant leadership on the global platform. Let us join crusaders like the US and UK to advance and accelerate human civilization and to upgrade the standard of living of our people. Please be enticed for peace and vote for peace and development. Please rebuke the clasless politics of hate and babarism, and do not allow yourself to be bambuzzled. The election is your God given right, but direct the power into what will resurrect our nation from unacceptable political misdirections.
I will tell you more in the next message.
    Love you sweet Sierra leone.
    Ahmed Alfred Bowling.

My appeal to all Sierra Leoneans is that the time has now come when we must stop thinking with our hearts and start thinking with our heads. When we think with our hearts, we are dealing with emotions and sentiments and this will take us away from factual thinking. Factual thinking helps to differentiate between peoples personal opinions and hard visible facts.

We pray for a government that will be able to identify and accept that social problems in Sierra Leone are real and must be tackled. The first step in dealing with any problem, is to accept that there is a problem ie unemployment, water, electricity to name a few.
May God continue to bless our motherland(Sierra Leone)

My grief about APC is this: When they were in power in the previous decades they believed in thurgry so much. This time also, they have not won the election, just because they lead in the parliamentary they started to threaten people by giving notice to people from Freetown. Look NO Northernern should think Freetown is for them. BLANTANT LIE. FREETOWN is Sierra Leone and Sierra Leone is for Sierra Leonean. People are just silly in thinking.
For Charles Margai, i agree with one of the writers saying Margai going back mean shartering his politiacal ambition. This is tru and remain the truth even where he alies with APC. Let’s say the fact, with APC, Charles Margai will NEVER be considered to lead the APC party; so absolutely he has shartered his political ambition as was in the case of Thaimu Bangura. Let’s all hold on for the sake of peace, go to the pull on Saturday and accept the result as it would come out. I know tribalism is now glaring in Sierra Leone but we must be very gentle and democratic in our behaviors.

  • Again, some of you are just talking here because of talk sake. We MUST not be a hypocrit to ourselves. We are all quite sentimental and tribalistic as far as politics in Sierra Leone goes. Even where we are conscious that somebody can not deliver the good, we vote him just because he speaks my language or he is from my region. This is terrible. We need to examine the current contendants and vote objectively. Annes Koroma needs long term lessons in democratic process. He is just a business man with little or no carisma of democratic principles. His blood is caked with one party system and will definitely mess around the good democratic process already in progress.
