It's due to pass over us. We'll start to see it within 24 hours. The usual preparations are being made. Store lots of water, buy lots of canned food.”

any updates as of yet?
I have a son in Dominica and daughter traveling there. Are planes getting in and out and has power and water been restored?
10:30 Saturday, as I write power, water and landline telephones have not yet been restored in the north-east of the islands. Do not yet know about aircraft, but you could contact Liat Airlines to check the situation.

News reports relate that the air and seaports are open for service, with the exception of the main airport at Melville Hall which will open at noon today, August 18, 2007. The civil defense authorities have matters well in hand and most phone land lines are operable as with cell phone service. Water and electricty services are now being restored. Most homes escaped unsacthed, with only 200 homes reporting damage. Roadways and bridges have sustained some damage and there was the regrettable loss of two lives; a mother and son at Campbell who were covered by a landslide.
