[...] Global Voices Online April 15th, 2007 Global Voices Online aggregates blog posts from around the world, organizing them into a vast array of categories, by topic and region. You can try and get all their news, but it’s a lot of posts - i find it works better if you subscribe to a feed to a topic of interest, or a location of interest to you. I currently subscribe to the Media RSS feed, which gathers blog posts from all over the world about reporters, bloggers, and media-type people, and what is happening to them or because of them. One of my favorite posts from this blog is about a man in China who bought a home only to have the land sold out from beneath him. He refused to move, even when all the ground around his house was dug away. You can find it at http://www.globalvoicesonline.org/2007/03/22/china-homeowners-hold-their-ground/ [...]

[...] The “nail house” blogged on Ugotrade on March 10th , and Boing Boing, March 12th, (hey I can’t resist pointing out again how I scooped Boing Boing on this one!), and many other English blogs after that. And, then Peering Into The Interior translated an interview with the owner. Now Global Voices Online points out, it is also picking up steam fast again on the Chinese BBS’s. “Smelling a story, journalists from all across the country rushed to the city [zh] to see what would happen when the owner, Wu Ping, ran out of time to evacuate her ‘nail house‘ at midnight on March 21. In the meantime, Wu set up her own blog and released this video.” Stumble it! [...]

Well according to CDT there is a media blackout. Last I heard was that the developer agreed to give Mrs. Wuping a place in the new broadway development. But after a quick check of all the news outlets in China most are still reporting on the story... maybe the blackout was lifted...
