The Philippines is not a democracy. Beginning with the Aquino administration, the Philippines turned into a MEDIACRACY- a society ruled by the mass media.

Today, the 2 top TV networks are the real legislators of the land. The Vice President and his rival for the VP post in the last elections are products of the TV networks.

This MEDIACRACY strengthens and facilitates MEDIOCRACY -- the rule of mediocre people -- in the country.

well, i dont think todays showbiz personalities in the senatorial race could easily get their seats in the Senate. People are wiser now. Cesar Montano and Richard Gomez, though good actors, should stay on their fields as actors. For some celebrities running in lower posts such as Vilma Santos, Christopher de Leon, Jomari Yllana etc, more than 70% wil surely vote for them. Aside from the fact that they are celebrities, people are also tired of the usual politicians in their provinces. But this doest gve an assurance that if ever these celebrities won their respective posts they will improve the status of their areas. Still, actors are better in acting than running a government.

well, we really can't do anything about these stars. they think that they can act their way through the halls of the Senate or Congress or any elective office and at the same time, continue with their showbiz career.
