This LA Times piece was one of the many sources:

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-russia5nov05,1,3829107.story?coll=la-headlines-world&ctrack=1&cset=true

"Human rights organizations and democracy parties held an officially sanctioned counter-rally that drew about 1,000 demonstrators to a different part of Moscow to denounce fascism."

Their "Russian March" figure seems higher, too, though:

"About 4,000 demonstrators gathered at a Moscow square for a rally shouted, "Russia for Russians!" and anti-Semitic slogans. More than 1,000 police officers stood guard nearby. The protesters then left the square for a march, which had been banned, and police detained dozens of people, mainly those carrying flags or banners."

VERONICA:

What is your source for there being 1,000 anti-fascist protesters? The BBC reported half that number here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6111188.stm

In any case, it's rather telling that there were at least twice as many fascists as anti-fascists. Russia is spiraling down into the void.
