While I support the president of the Venezuela, I object to his foreign policies. In his quest to encounter the US imperialism, Chavez resorts to becoming a bed fellow with some of the most reactionary regimes in the Mid-East. We have experienced such phenomeonon in the past particularly with China and the former Soviet Union. Despite my disenchnatment with Chavez's Foreign policies, I am not disillusioned by the fact that we live in a global system that is based on capitalism as the dominant socio-economic and politico-culture. In addition the class structure of the present global system involves asymerictal relation between the capital-intesive West and labor-intensive developing countries. Furthermore the current world system is characterized by the dominance of caucasian and male gender. US imperialsim continues to regard the developing countries from an old colonial prespective. Bush's military gingoism epidemizes the cowboy-gunboat policies that are were practiced by the old colonial powers as they regard the develeping countries their possessions. Chavez is manuvering in a global atomosphere that continues to regard the developing countries as minors who continue to "misbehave." US imperialism in its quest to fend off the soci-economic powers of the EU entered in a military quest that will be its downfall.
