Unemployment is a big problem. United States of America has an unemployment rate of 8,924,000. I would like some opinions on this matter. Please and Thanks!

Hallo Vukota,

I hope you are just bit aware of Serbia's history and its people. I think one has to be patriotic if he comes from the country where Nikola Tesla was born.

Serbia.......... hmmmmmmmmmm.....

Well here is my look at this country. I was born In Belgrade, moved to Halifax .... Came back to Serbia when I was 23.... Lived for another 4 years..... And now I live in China..... So I feel that I have enough history to write my point of view in this blog.

Serbia is good for the following things ....

1. Chill all day.
2. Party and fun.
3. Food, food and more food.
4. Girls and more Girls
5. Very small and easy to get around
6. Close to other great cities in EU...
7. Everything is possible with the right drinking buddy....

Why Serbia is Bad.

1. The population is the size of a small city in China.
2. The Buying power is so small you have to ship goods in a box not in a container
3. Once you bring goods to Serbia you will have to rely on Barter System...... That is the main form of payment in Serbia.
4. When you want to buy something other then Burek, Newspaper, Coke, or Coffee you will have a hard time to find it.
5. I will add more in a few days.... I have over 100 points on Serbia.

William:

How about comparing Serbia to Romania, Bulgaria and Albania?

Such a comparison will show that Serbia isn't so bad off. Especially for a country that faced hypocritical actions related to economic sanctions and a bombing campaign against it.

I have found that the income of middle class Serbs is lower than their EU counterparts.
I mean to say that doctors, say, in UK earn about six to ten times the earnings of unskilled workers, whilst Serbian doctors earn four times that of unskilled workers in Serbia. So the differential earnings are greater in UK. Also, I'm comparing GP wages in the UK with consultants wages in Serbia, so the differential is probably even greater in favour of high earning UK doctors.
Life isn't easy for the middle classes in Serbia. Of course it is even harder for 'blue collar' workers. Poverty is relative but it is permanent. The poor are an essential feature of capitalism. Without a pool of more or less desperate workers, there can be no capitalism and no super rich. If everyone had some kind of independence, they wouldn't work for low wages. Moving permanently from the country to the city is the worst thing that rural poor could do. It is only a temoprary fix at best. If rural people give up their land for the City 'bright ights' they will be at the mercy of the employers for ever. Keep your land. When you have some money, go back and become independent. Don't be seduced by the lure of bright lights and fancy cars....it is all an illusion. For every rich man living the dream, there are thousands working like animals to keep him there. Without them, he would have to do the work himself. What makes one person worth millions and another worth pennies? Power. However, the powerful have no power over those who are independent. Don't waste money on consumer items that you don't need. Remember, all advertising is lies. Illusions to make you part with your hard earned money.
