The saddest part about seeing what is happening today, is the sudden realization of how much time we as Arabs have wasted while attaching our hopes to the failed mechanisms of the Middle East Peace Process.

Amr Moussa and the Arab foreign ministers for the first time said it: the peace process is dead, even though many in the Arab world would argue it was never alive. No more quartets and no more road map, no more dishonest peace brokers in the region. For the first time, there is a moment in the Arab world when people and leaders say the same thing.

No matter how miserable the situation is in the region for the average Arab. There's still hope in that, because of that moment.

Because of that, I ask that you to join me in saying "thank you" to Amr Moussa and the Arab foreign ministers that met in Cairo. We must make sure that they don't get tempted to go back on their word, and we can do it by maintaining momentum and continuing to focus the light on the realization of that emergency session in Cairo.

[...] Global Voices: The word ‘peace’ has never seemed further from the recent realities that have gripped the region. Instead, the word ‘conflict’ seems to dominate the undertones of every blogger who’s been keeping track of the developments in Palestine; and even ‘conflict’ feels like a euphemism these days. - Naseem Tarawnah [...]
