It is volunteer run, and we donate our time and money as we can. Today, WBRi is the pioneering desktop as well as mobile or cell phone (sometimes called hand phone) friendly 24x7 Bangla Radio Channel streaming online Bengali Songs. The WBRi internet radio stream, broadcasting round-the-clock 24x7 with unique associated services and legal original content, is your online radio (web radio) alternative to Calcutta Bangla Radio, Kolkata Radio FM channel and Kolkata Radio broadcasting from Calcutta.

WBRi webcasts classic "Adhunik" Bangla (আধুনিক বাংলা), oldies through new and currently popular Bengali songs.

WBRi publishes exclusive INTERVIEWS AND FEATURES on establised and upcoming artistes, musicians, song writers, lyricists, composers, performers and personalities from Kolkata and Bengal in general. More often than not, WBRi Featured Articles include exclusive never-seen Audio and Video footage, donated to WBRi.

WBRi has many dreams, and will continue to strive to bring you unique services through this or other web-sites. WBRi needs support from bloggers like you to spread the word. Please consider a mention on your wonderful site on Bengali site.

Hi! I had a great time reading this wonderful article. Bengali is certainly one of the most sweetest language spoken across the world. Bengali language I think is very simple and can be learned quite easily. Its beauty can be felt even more when a non-bengali speaks this language :).
Thanks

indeed a well written story. being a bengali staying away from calcutta it really feels amazing to converse in bengali and indeed bengali is one of the sweetest languages one can come across. aparna's mention of the Norwegian software firm that facilitates typing in bangla is highly remarkable. i myself had no clue about it and this shows that bangla is a highly loved language.

[...] After Kannada and Tamil, it’s Bangla linking time at Global Voices. Aparna of newsmerickd, has volunteered to bridge blog Bangla blogs (from India and Bangladesh) for Global Voices. Her first post is here “Bring the world of Bangla Blogs to GV“. The real push for Bangla blogging however, came from Bangladesh on December 16, 2005 when somewhere in…, a Norwegian software company based in Dhaka, launched a new blogging platform in Bangla at somewhereinblog.net. In a way this marked the true birth of the Bangla blogosphere as it helped create a vibrant, interactive community, where people could reach out and share their thoughts and feelings on varied topics and issues. Since its launch, the site has been inundated with posts, hits and its family of Bangla bloggers continues to grow every day. Despite the grouse that the site is not Unicode compliant, the popularity of the site can be gauged from the fact that it sees about 12,000 page hits per day and is likely to reach over 2 million hits within 6 months of release.
