Nicholas,
Don't know is this sent itself previosuly - if so, forgive.
We have a website - LiteratureAliveOnline that profiles 26 Caribbean-Canadian authors. It's the companion site to our LiteratureAlive documentaries - 19 docs profiling Caribbean Authors (and growing), and our audio book collection (5 so far).
Thanks for writing this and for connecting us all
One love

I read this and was overwhelmed, and I still can't think of a cool, chic, sophisticated way to say thank you to Nicholas Laughlin for the special mention. For once I've run out of words.

Thank you.

Mad Bull has a LIBRARY of Caribbean Bloggers, by the way. I use his blog to read others.

Dear Halcyone Hoagland:
Greetings!
Give thanks for the support. Global Voices and the conference that the CSA hosted have been great. Support comes in many forms. For example, Global Voices has linked to many of my posts, and the linking improves rankings in, let's say, Technorati. Ultimately, I hope this translates into book sales.
But as I said in the blog, I never started out writing for money. I wanted to be a poet and to master the craft. I didn't know any poets who were rolling in the dough, so it had to be a personal choice to continue.
Hope to see you soon.

Blessings,
Geoffrey

Greetings,

This is Halcyone Hoagland from FIU in Miami. I was at CSA and am in agreement with Geoffrey in taking responsibility to build our creative and cultural art forms to the point where we need them to be, and enlist them in the development process (i.e. making sure artist and creative entrepreneurs have the financial and business resources needed to make the arts in the Caribbean not only survive, but compete on a global scale) If anyone knows a blog that supports this function, let me know, if none exist, that's on mi!

Thankyou and blessings to all,
Halcyone

Dear Sir or Madam:
The latest Literature Carnival is featuring a link to one of your posts. The purpose of the Literature Carnival is to provide a meeting place for bloggers who blog on literature. The Carnival, held every two weeks, is hosted each week by a different literature-related blog and lists links to some dozen best literature related stories of the past fortnight.
We would like you to invite you to the current Carnival page <a href="http://heaventree.blogspot.com/2006/05/10th-literature-festival-is-here.html" rel="nofollow">here</a> and browse through the entries. And we would like to ask you to please give us a link. Perhaps you could include the <a href="http://blogcarnival.com/bc/cprof_175.html" rel="nofollow">carnival address</a> in your blogroll, or, failing that, you could make a post at your blog saying something like: The latest Literature Carnival is <a href="http://heaventree.blogspot.com/2006/05/10th-literature-festival-is-here.html" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

Dear Georgia and Nicholas,
Greetings!
Give thanks for spreading the word. I think if we can build a critical mass, then we may see the resurgence in the arts that was clearly evident before Federation/Independence. Some of this was because we had to prove to the colonial powers that we were up to the task of self-governance and the previous generations clearly had a mission that was co-created with the colonialists. Now we are on our own. It's almost like when a teenager moves out of his/her home. S/he has to decide what's important to him/her. Some never do. Our islands may share a similar fate if we don't pay attention and it will have diastrous effects on the 'yout' because there is still an element of racism. If I'm going on a bit too much it's because I work in a college where I see the lost boys and girls. And it's sad.

Here are two web sites that you may not have mentioned for Garfield Ellis and Opal Adisa:
http://www.garfieldellis.org
http://www.opalwriters.com

Peace,
Geoffrey
