Today is Prešeren Day in Slovenia (aka the Day of National Culture): the death anniversary of Francè Prešeren (1800-1849), the country's beloved poet. On May 26, approximately 50-60 opponents of the upcoming Gay Pride gathered [sk] in Bratislava for a rally organized by the Association for Protection of Family, together with the Citizens' Association for Christian Values and Traditions. The main organizer, Jozef Dupkala, offering a helping hand to homosexuals, said: “Your current pride … will end the moment you stand before The Last Court.” He also said: “We came to offer hope to all those who suffer from this condition, homosexuality, to be able to turn to God in order to accept the cure.”
A 5.6 magnitude earthquake, the strongest since 1917, shook Bulgaria's capital Sofia and the perimeter zone of around 100 km last night, followed by a number of strong aftershocks. No victims have been reported so far. The website Earthquake Reports has published live updates and social networks such as Twitter and Facebook were the first ones to spread the news.
