What Tim said! It is very easy to locate which articles ESWN will give play to on Taiwan. They are generally (1) sensationalist and (2) cast Taiwan in a negative light. Here he got burned real bad listening to Apple Daily -- for as the Taipei Times, which prints actual news, revealed the next day, Apple had lied. The website was not aimed at foreigners but locals to improve their English. Apple was, as always, appealing to the lowest common denominator. I hope Roland will take a moment to update his presentation and incorporate the correction. I also hope, as I have repeatedly begged him, that he will use a reputable local paper rather than a 100% Hong Kong- Chinese owned tabloid to represent Taiwan.

look forward to the day when ESWN recovers some balance on its Taiwan presentations, but at the moment ESWN, who once said that President Chen was a serial liar and needed to look more deeply into himself and his state, isn't capable of rational reporting on things Taiwan. It's sad, because otherwise ESWN is a great blog that I always recommend, and he gets a lot of publicity.

Thanks for the link, but "discussed" is hardly the word for what Soong did. He merely regurgitated <i>Apple Daily</i>'s sensationalist garbage without even bothering to think.
