Belize: Flooding

Belizean – Belize News reports on heavy rains in Belize on Tuesday which led to flooding and disruption of traffic. The western highway, which connects the northern and central parts of Belize with Belmopan, the capital, was shut down for several hours and a passenger bus and a truck were swept off the highway by raging floodwaters, though all the passengers were safely evacuated. The Mennonite community of Spanish Lookout was also cut off due to flooding. The bad weather was caused by an unseasonable tropical disturbance that formed in the Western Caribbean on Monday and moved ashore.
