Great first entry! You did an excellent job of introducing the "exciting" world of the Israeli blogosphere, where there never seem to be any dull moments. ;-) I look forward to reading future posts.

You write:
The rhetoric of the anti-withdrawal movement was very strong, and as a result many feared that the protestors would become violent.
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
What does "strong" mean in this context? Deeply felt, convincing, extremist?

Where there any credible voices in the anti-disengagement leadership that preached violence? In fact there were none: a small fringe promoted "passive civil disobedience", there was no support for violent opposition to Israel's army or police force - in fact, everyone from politicians to rabbis to pop musicians were recruited to get out the message of non-violent protest.

It would be more accurate to write:
"The pro-disengagement, left-dominated media fanned false fears of violence, painting their opponents as extremists."

Thanks for this wonderful roundup, Lisa! I'm so glad you'll be doing this for GV. I especially like your point that English-language Israeli bloggers run the gamut both religiously and politically -- it's easy to forget that. I look forward to reading your roundups from here on out!

Lisa's heart

exposing
her collective self,
sprinkling the page
with hyssop and rock
gathered from the land.
