Hi Haitham,
The anger over Robertson’s remarks isn’t just in the Middle East. Robertson has been slammed really hard here in the US media in the last 24 hours. On CNN, one reporter said she’d spent the day reading US bloggers responding to Robertson. Of the dozens and dozens she looked at, she could only find one blog that was in support of his foolish comments. All the others were angry, disgusted and embarrassed.
The word “fatwa” has come up a lot – I evoked it myself in my post yesterday. The whole idea of an American religious leader demanding the assassination of a world leader is just despicable.
Waht I find so schocking about the offensive and blsphemous remakrs Pat Robertson had t say about Sharon is how very little true objection was made . If I as an African American madea public remark about him of other leaders inteh religious right coalition there would be an uproar. Just to think thes folks call themseves Christians.
It’ very troublesome to me that more people don’t reaiize how corrupt the Bush Administration and the Christian Coalitian has continue to divide Americanmore as a counrty racially. American s really need to wake up an except the fact that we are no longer a strong and powerful country as in years past. We are lacking in industry, and education. Retiring men and women have to worry about have pensions and meidacl expenses. These are issues Pat Robision should be preaching about— How we can become a ‘more United States” .
