As of now(dec 2006)Blog-city is accesable in China, I'm in China at the moment. Having said that I can't get to the blog-city home page today. Blogger/blogspot is also accesable now, although about a year ago it wasn't. Technorati.com is a no go though. Problem is although i can access technorati with an anonymous browser i cant do anything such as create an account because for that many sites will require a cookie dropped but the browser doesnt allow for it. Hotmail is also a site that we often cant get into for some strange reason. Really the filtering causes a lot of problems like these.

[...] Do you notice something? Except for a visitor from Hong Kong, there are zero visitors showing from China, a nation of 94 million Web users. Why? Largely it’s because China blocks the blogspot domain. Moving off the Blogger platform and onto our own domain using WordPress will hopefully open this site to more Chinese visitors.
To get around the block put on Blog-City by Chinese censors, which has made Angry Chinese Blogger inaccessible in China without the use of a proxy, I am happy to announce that an unblocked mirror sites http://www.20six.co.uk/angrychineseblogger is now up and running, spreading the news that Beijing doesn’t want you to hear.

Angry Chinese Blogger’s entire back archive, along with all new articles will still be available at http://angrychineseblogger.blog-city.com/

I would be grateful if you would add a link to the mirror alongside the master link to Angry Chinese Blogger.

The coolest guy on the planet, Sam Freedom, thinks censorship like this is just plain wrong. Sometimes we take for granted our freedoms so it's a blessing and a service that an article such as this exists. How can we help others in such a situation?

Sincerely,
Sam Freedom

[...] AngryChineseBlogger, whose host is now blocked in China, has an interesting analysis exploring the lengths to which China will and will not go to secure a client-state relationship with Robert Mugabe’s Zimbabwe. For starters, China isn’t in the charity business: Despite a surfeit of evidence to the contrary, Beijing has proven that it is nobody’s fool, at least as far as its relationship with Harare is concerned during a recent meeting between the two states when Chinese officials announced that, while Beijing would continue its policy of trade and infrastructure investment in Zimbabwe, it would not be providing the $US1 billion in foreign currency loans requested by Harare to assist it in propping up its rapidly degrading economy. “While they [the Chinese] are willing to provide infrastructural help on generous credit terms, they are not willing to throw huge amounts of money at us” [...]

The work-around loophole that I've discovered was actually something I set up a couple of months ago when I encountered a brief ban that only lasted a few hours. After it was lifted I quickly put a couple of other measures into place that would allow me to continue updating my blog, though in limited form.

I also have a mirror site that I establishd after that incident. I will probably start posting to it later today, until the ban has been lifted.

<a href="http://www.xanga.com/thehorsesmouth" rel="nofollow">The Horse's Mouth (mirror site)</a>

I may even try temporarily removing the post about Taiwan being a possesion of the United States (according to international law) to see if that helps.
