I think it´s naive to think the terrorists views are only shared by a minority of brainless or desperate people. There are many people that wouldn´t bomb you, but still support very similar views to that of the terrorists and will regard their actions as normal retribution for whatever. The absolute lack of autocriticism showed by those who share the same ideology but don´t plant bombs and the persitent denial of those who are more moderate ("they are not muslims") ilustrates how little resentement there is among many British muslims towards those who bombed London. There isn´t many literated muslims in Britain or elsewhere able to talk about London, NY or Madrid attacks without mentioning Palestine, Irak or other conflict of their choice. Terrorism appears when there is room for it in a comunity and this mean many people justifying it. If British muslims show now they are more Muslim (by playing down their part of responsability) than British (by utter rejection of radicalism) I reckon trust will not be restored.

The terrorists sure are clever. What smart people to hurt and kill men, women, and even CHILDREN in the recent London bomb blasts. Now, world citizens will surely say, “Okay, we give up, come control our lives with your ideologies.” Right? The problem with the leadership at al-Qaeda is that they haven’t figured out that people have no love for killers. Their point of view will only attract the very young and impressionable or the very old and desperate. They miss the largest demographic- law abiding citizens who want peace. If it’s the masses a group wants to affect, do something absolutely worthwhile and positive with the resources. Win hearts. The world may be talking about al-Qaeda , but it’s not in love with it and the goods it’s selling. Without winning hearts, MommyCool.com notes the change al-Qaeda hopes for will always be shallow.
