Kyrgyzstan: The Die is Cast
Today the Central Elections Commission confirmed that Kyrgyzstan's election is valid. Over 51% of Kyrgystanis have voted across the country (a little over 3 million voters). Elena Skochilo reports.

Kyrgyzstan: Government Bans News Websites from the Election Campaign
Ahead of the presidential elections to be held in Kyrgyzstan on 30 October, 2011, the Central Elections Committee (CEC) came out with a controversial decision, barring web-based news media from taking part in the campaign. Eleven news sites were denied accreditation to inform voters on the pre-election developments.

Kyrgyzstan: Osama Bin Laden Dies, Bloggers React
In the wake of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York, the remote Central Asian state of Kyrgyzstan proved itself a key ally in the United States-led war on terror. Washington's presence in the country has often been viewed ambiguously. It comes as no surprise then, that the death of Osama Bin Laden, the popularly assumed mastermind of the attacks, was treated by many Kyrgyz bloggers - and some politicians - with a sense of apathy and even cynicism.

Central Asia: “Cyber Chaikhana,” Book Written by Bloggers
"Cyber Chaikhana" is a book project about Central Asian bloggers and their perceptions of their region, culture and everyday life. Edited by Christopher Schwartz and published by HIVOS, the book is a collection of narratives written by the bloggers at NewEurasia.net, the Central Asian blogging network. The aim of the project is to reach out to both the Central Asian (Russian speaking) and global audiences.
